Panda 38 General Specifications and Equipment

Hull:   Hand laminated 24 oz. woven roving alternated with 1.5 oz. mat fiberglass, to designer specifications.  All living areas of the hull are insulated with P.U. foam to reduce condensation. The hull insulation is sealed off with a pair of mat & roving fiberglass.
Deck:   Hand laminated 24 oz. woven roving alternated with 1.5 oz. mat fiberglass, to designer specifications.  Balsa wood core material in the deck & house for stiffening, insulation and weight saving properties.  Teak decks are standard, bedded in Thiokol.  Molded-in nonskid surface in the house top.
Ballast:   Iron, 6,600 pounds, cast in one piece and internally sealed and glassed over to designer specifications.

Mast & Boom:  Manufactured in the U.S.A. to designer specifications.

Standing Rigging:  Manufactured in the U.S.A. to designer specifications.

Sails:   Three working sails by Neil Pryde.  The main has two rows of reef points and the staysail has one row of reef points.  Main sail cover and ready bags.
Hull Fittings:  Bronze thru-hull fittings with bronze lever action seacocks.   All thru-hull fittings are bonded to the yacht's bonding system.
Chainplates:   Stainless steel to designer specifications.  The chainplates are bonded to the yacht's bonding system.

Deck Hardware:  Double stainless steel bow and stern pulpits.  Double vinyl coated lifelines with wide opening gates port & starboard.  Teak roller bearing blocks for the running rigging.  Roller bearing main sheet traveler.  Genoa & staysail tracks port & starboard.  Genoa turning blocks.  All deck hardware is through bolted and backed with stainless steel backing plates.  Four 12" stainless mooring cleats.  Teak sea hatch. Four teak dorade boxes with stainless steel cowl vents.  The forward two dorade boxes are protected with stainless protection bars.  Stainless steel air vent over the shower stall area.   Six mooring line hawse pipes in the bulwark.  Six deck prisms.
Opening Ports & Hatches:  Twelve bronze opening ports in the sides of the house, with the bottom of the ports sloping outward to drain water from the ports.  Teak double-opening butterfly hatch over the main cabin.  Large opening teak hatch over the forward stateroom.
Bowsprit:   Laminated bowsprit bedded into a large teak sampson post.  Teak platform with two bronze anchor rollers mounted on top of the bowsprit.
Wale Stripe:  Molded-in wale stripe, painted to owners color choice.   Molded-in scroll design, port & starboard above the wale stripe in the bulwark, at both ends of the yacht.  Teak cap rail above the bulwark.  Teak bulwark optional.  There is half-round teak trim under the wale stripe with optional teak rub rail available.
Steering System:  Pedestal wheel steering with stainless steel rimmed steering wheel.   Engine controls mounted on pedestal with wheel brake.  Chain/wire steering to the quadrant.  Emergency steering tiller.
Winches:   All winches are Lewmar, chrome plated & self tailing:

Two 10" locking winch handles.  Two 12" locking winch handles.

Engine:   Universal-40, 4 cylinder, 40 HP., fresh water cooled diesel engine with V-drive.   Flexible engine mounts.  55 amp alternator.  Additional Racor fuel filter in the fuel line.  Salt water strainer.  Aqua lift type muffler.  Foam/lead insulated box.
Tankage:   Two stainless steel fresh water tanks, with large inspection plates & baffles.   Total water storage capacity is approximately 140 gallons.  Black iron fuel tank, capacity about 75 gallons.  All tanks are bonded to the yacht's bonding system.   One fiberglass holding tank.  All tanks are vented to the outside of the yacht.
Electrical System:  Two heavy duty 100 amp hour batteries with four position master battery switch.  Bass Yachtmate electrical panel with four meters and all necessary circuit breakers.  Bass sealed beam bulkhead lights.  Four fluorescent indirect lights.  Six overhead dome lights.  Aqua Signal running lights to International Rule.  Shore power connector with 120 volt AC outlets throughout the yacht.  Red night lights.  Hanging locker lights.
Plumbing System:  Par pressure water pump.  Hot/cold pressure water in the galley and head/shower stall area.  Salt water foot pump in the galley and fresh water foot pumps in the galley and head.  Large deep double stainless steel sinks in the galley.  Manual bilge pump in the cockpit plus electric bilge pump.  Moen single-lever faucets in the galley and head.  Hot water heater, 120 volts AC plus heat exchanger for getting hot water from the engine.  All hot/cold water is plumbed through nylon reinforced hose, imported from the U.S.A.  Manual head, plumbed through a "Y" valve for discharge directly into a holding tank or overboard when at sea.   Shower sump pump with filter.
Interior:   Teak & spruce cabin sole with built-in dust bin.  Solid vertical teak staving on the interior bulkheads.  All hanging lockers are lined with camphor wood.   Spruce battens against the side of the berth areas and on the outboard side of all exposed book lockers.  Formica or light wood counters in the galley and marble counter in the head.  Laminated beams overhead with removable Formica panels between the beams (spruce staving overhead optional).  The interior teak is finished with a satin varnish.  All locker doors are of louvered teak with laminated teak frames.   Four to six inch contoured foam cushions with vinyl covers.  Teak grates in the cockpit, at the bottom of the companionway stairs and in the shower stall.  Wet locker that drains into the sump area.  Nonskid material recessed into the companionway stairs.  Teak main cabin table with hand crafted star-burst pattern.   Stainless steel lines stove well.  Foam insulated ice chest with vapor barrier.
