DESIGNER'S SYNOPSIS PANDA 34

The PANDA 34 is the result of the combined efforts of Performance Design Corporation and Developer Bob Berg of Tatoosh Marine. She is designed to follow in the wake of her predecessor (the PANDA 38), and has the same integrity and subtle complexity of the PANDA line.

Limited overhang, cambered house sides and minimal free-board decrease windage. The fine entry, specific hull shape and carefully developed keel and rudder sections work to decrease drag and enhance helm response without sacrificing the form stability inherent of semi-full keeled configurations. The designed displacement of 16,900 lbs. (including crew and half tanks) and relatively low wetted surface allows for the use of a smaller sail area. These elements coupled with the cutter rig make the yacht easier to handle, yet nimble even in light air. The use of semi-circular sections forward act to dampen verticle acceleration and slamming and to create a comfortable and predictable motion. The anthropometrically engineered cockpit and contoured seating provides good visibility and a comfortable, secure work/relaxation area.

The interior design of the PANDA 34 reflects the concepts of cruising comfort and effective use of limited space. The main salon is separated from the galley by the use of a cut-away bulkhead which creates an aura of spaciousness and allows for easy conversation between the individual areas.

The galley has large double stainless sinks, drawers and locker space for ample storage, and an easily accessed ice box. The main salon with starboard U-shaped settee and dining table and port settee make a very appealing conver-sation area. Ail main cabin cushions are contoured for comfort and security.

The forward stateroom can have either a very large single queen-sized berth, or V-berths. The enclosed separate head/shower arrangement offers privacy and ample storage for cruising.

Numerous vents, hatches, and ten opening portlights insure abundant ventilation below deck, and the free use of deck prisms further enhance the natural light below decks. Extended stays on board are made possible with the 120-gallons of fresh water and 70-gallons of fuel that are her standard capacities.

In the PANDA 34 we have created a boat that satisfies all your cruising requirements; a comfortable, fast, easily sailed fun boat that has the capability of going just about anywhere in the world.
